Curriculum & Course Overview
Goal The course aims to provide the Aeronautical Cartography Specialists with competences required to develop all types of Aeronautical Charts effectively and efficiently in accordance with ICAO Annex 4 - Aeronautical Charts, 11th Edition, July 2009; ICAO Aeronautical Chart Manual, Doc. 8697, Third Edition, 2016, ECAR 31.1, 2024. Learning Objectives • After successful completion of the course, participants will be able to: • . Acquire the relevant concept of the modern Air Navigation Satellite Systems • Identify the digital data sources used in the chart’s productions • . Produce all types of local AIP charts using drawing tools • Apply quality assurance procedures on the production Aeronautical Charts Structure • Module 0 : Introduction • Module 1 : Digital data sources used in the chart production • Module 2 : AIP Charts Production • Module 3 : Charts Quality Assurance Procedures Primary Target Population Aeronautical Cartography Specialists Secondary Audience: AIS Officers, Air Traffic Controllers, Instrument Flight Procedure Designers Entry Requirements • Having a university degree or equivalent, preferable in civil engineering or Geography. • Having at least 2 years’ experience in the field of AIS • Attended the Basic Aeronautical Cartography Course • Aware of chart drawing tools
