Curriculum & Course Overview

Goal The course will provide specialised pavement experts that perform PCR (Pavement Classification Rating) calculations with the competencies required to determine the PCR of any given airport pavement structure, for any given aircraft mix, in accordance with the ACR-PCR (Aircraft Classification Rating-Pavement Classification Rating) method as described in ADM (Aerodrome Design Manual) Part 3 (Pavements) 2022 edition. Learning Objectives • After successful completion of the course, participants will be able to: • List the benefits of the new ACR-PCR system • Describe the damage model(s) and their importance to the ACR-PCR system • Explain the CDF (Critical Damage Factor) concept as it pertains to the pavement design and ACR-PCR • Calculate the ACR values for any given aircraft • Calculate the PCR for any given pavement • Determine the overload operations capabilities with detailed pavement analysis Structure • Module 0 : Introduction • Module 1 : Introducing the ACR/PCR Method • Module 2 : Pavement Damage Models • Module 3 : Cumulative Damage Factor • Module 4 : Aircraft Classification Rating • Module 5 : Pavement Classification Rating Primary Target Population The target audience for this course are specialised airport pavement engineers that will be required to determine the PCR of existing and new airport pavements. These specialised engineers are expected to include: Specialized airport engineers. Consultants working on airport pavement design. Secondary Audience: Secondary target audience: Specialised State CAA engineers Entry Requirements • This course is best suited for aerodrome pavement engineers with a background in pavement design and evaluation.
