Curriculum & Course Overview
Goal This course will provide participants with competencies to ensure that the design of Aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGL) is implemented in accordance with ICAO Annex 14, ICAO Doc 9157, and the international industry’s best practices. Learning Objectives • Upon completion of this course, trainees will be able to: • • Design compliant visual aids to assist flight crew for approaching, landing, and operating on the airport surface and to prevent runway incursion, excursion, and other operational safety risks. • • Design an electrical system to provide economical power and control which is safe, reliable, and easily maintained based on the basic design principles. Structure • Module 0 : Introduction • Module 1 : Aeronautical Ground Lighting: Design Preparation • Module 2 : Aeronautical Ground Lighting: System Design • Module 3 : Aeronautical Ground Lighting: System Installation Primary Target Population • Aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGL) Operators, designers, managers, and maintenance technicians. Secondary Audience: National Authority employees (responsibilities covering visual aids) Airport Engineering Consultants and Planners, Airfield Pavement Designers. Entry Requirements • English language proficiency; • Computer literacy.
