Curriculum & Course Overview
Goal The aim of this course is to train the front-line operators of an ATM organization in human factors aspects, so that they can maintain consistently acceptable operational performance throughout the period of service. Learning Objectives • • Define the role of aeronautical activity players in flight safety and its evolution towards the human factor; • Explain human performance (physiology and biology) in the aeronautical environment, up to the effects of incapacitation in flight; • Identify the different modes of human error; • Identify methods of control in situations that could compromise flight safety. Structure • Module 0 : Introduction • Module 1 : Introduction to Human Factors • Module 2 : Human Performance: Limitations and Capabilitites • Module 3 : Communication and Teamwork in Aviation • Module 4 : Human Error and TEM Management • Module 5 : Situational Awareness and Decision-Making • Module 6 : Fatigue Management and Well-being • Module 7 : Automation, Technology and Human Machine Operation • Module 8 : Safety Culture Primary Target Population • Air Traffic Controllers • Flight Dispatchers • Pilots • Ground Handling • Maintenance Personnel Secondary Audience: • ATM Managers Entry Requirements • • Two-three years of practical operational experience as a pilot, air traffic controllers, maintenance personnel, dispatchers, operational managers, auditors and inspectors flight operations officer, • • Computer literacy, • • Good oral and written command of English
