Goal Upon successful completion of this course, a Freight Forwarder or Airline Dangerous Goods (DG) Acceptance Agent and Shipper will be able to verify if articles or substances for air transport are properly identified, classified, packed, marked, labelled, and documented according to the current ICAO Technical Instructions. Learning Objectives • At the end of the course, participants will be able to • 1. Understanding Regulatory Frameworks • Describe the general philosophy, scope, and applicability of ICAO Technical Instructions, including the regulatory framework governing the transportation of dangerous goods by air. • 2. Risk Assessment and Compliance: • Verify the limitations of dangerous goods on aircraft and identify the Classes and Divisions of dangerous goods, focusing on risk assessment and compliance with relevant regulations. • 3. Documentation and Procedures: • Describe the documentation and procedural requirements for shipping dangerous goods, including training requirements for shippers and freight forwarders, as well as completing Shipper’s Declaration for Dangerous Goods forms and Cargo Air Waybills. • 4. Packaging and Labelling • Identify and classify basic dangerous goods items into their respective Classes, Divisions, and Packing Groups, interpret UN Package Specification markings, and verify that marking and labelling requirements for dangerous goods packages have been met. • 5. Operational Considerations: • Determine operational considerations related to the transportation of dangerous goods, including segregation requirements, reporting requirements, acceptability of various packaging methods (e.g., All Packed in One, Overpack), and understanding variations notified by States and Operators to the Regulations.
