Goal The course provides the aeronautical cartographers with the required competencies for the production of aeronautical charts based on GIS methodology and tools in accordance with ICAO Annex 4, ICAO Doc 8697 aeronautical chart manual and ECAR 311 Learning Objectives • Describe GIS concepts and fundamentals • Identify the two types of GIS data structure. • Conduct simple spatial analysis using GIS software. • Develop Aeronautical Charts based on GIS Methodology and tools Structure • Module 0 : Introduction • Module 1 : GIS Concepts and Fundamentals • Module 2 : GIS Data Structure • Module 3 : GIS Data Analyzes • Module 4 : Develop Aeronautical Charts Based on GIS Primary Target Population . Aeronautical Cartographers Secondary Audience: Aerodrome Design Engineers Instrument Flight Procedure Designers Entry Requirements • A university degree in the field of geography • Minimum of 3 years work experience in the field of aviation • English language proficiency level 4 or equivalent
